    SUPPORT INVESTIGATOR
    (Non-Competitive under NYS HELP Program)
     
     
    The Warren County Department of Social Services is seeking qualified candidates for the full-time position of Support Investigator. The Support Investigator determines the location and financial status of individuals legally responsible for the support of welfare recipients. Also provides related services to the general public for the purpose of securing child support and/or establishment of paternity. The position involves verifying the absence of a legally responsible relative from a household, locating the individual and assessing the possibility of obtaining reimbursement of funds for a social service agency. For the general public, this position involves documenting and verifying the financial status of absent parents and preparing petitions for support, enforcement, and modification.  

    SALARY:  $ 48,924 (Base Salary)
     
    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
     
         A) Associate’s degree in criminal justice or a degree which includes 12 credit hours in one of   the behavioral  sciences; or
         B) Graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma and two (2) years of interviewing or investigation experience involving public contact; or
         C) Any equivalent combination of training and experience as stated in (A) and (B) above.
     
     
    Special requirement: Possession of an appropriate NYS Motor Vehicle Operator’s license at the time of appointment.
