NOTICE OF VACANCY
CONSTRUCTION SPECIALIST II
The Warren County Department of Public Works is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Construction Specialist II. Incumbents in this class act as a technical liaison to other departments regarding engineering and construction principles and practices. The work includes responsibility for design, construction administration and inspection, preparation and maintenance of records and reports. Supervision is exercised over subordinate staff. Work is performed under general direction of the Superintendent of Public Works with high level of autonomy and wide latitude for the exercise of independent judgement in planning and scheduling work, selecting work methodologies, evaluating information, preparing reports, recommendations and resolving problems in the field.
SALARY: $96,589 (2026 Base)
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s Degree* in engineering, engineering technology, construction management or a closely related field and four (6) years of progressively responsible experience in civil engineering technology or construction management; OR
- Associate’s Degree* in engineering, engineering technology, construction management or a closely related field and six (8) years of progressively responsible experience in civil engineering technology or construction management; OR
- Graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma and eight (10) years of progressively responsible experience in engineering, engineering technology or construction management; OR
- Any equivalent combination of education and experience as defined by the limitations set forth in Paragraphs A and B above.
*Acceptable areas of engineering education include Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Architectural Engineering, Construction Engineering or a closely related field. Degrees in the following fields are not acceptable: Chemical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Public Health Engineering or Computer Technology.
The position will be filled based upon Civil Service requirements. A provisional appointment will be made with examination to be held at a later date. Candidate must meet Civil Service requirements for appointment following establishment of the Eligible List. Authority to fill this job vacancy is pending approval of the Board of Supervisors.
