Director of Parks, Recreation & Railroad Division

 
The Warren County Department of Public Works is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Director of Parks, Recreation & Railroad Division. This is specialized administrative work applied to diverse recreational, educational, environmental, and public facilities and programs. The position is responsible for administering various state and federal funding programs which include the supervision, leadership and coordination of professional and non-professional staff. The Director is expected to facilitate the coordination of state, town, county and federal agencies with various projects and programs. The Director may be expected to spend a considerable percentage of his/her time giving help to particular programs and projects.  Does related work as required.
 
SALARY: $86,669 (2026 Base salary)
 
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Good knowledge of administration as it pertains to outdoor recreation facilities, a knowledge of planning, background and knowledge of environmental science, the ability to work with groups and various public agencies, the ability to speak before a group, sound professional judgment; good organizational skills, good skills in interacting and communication with people, good understanding of budgets.
 
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
    A)  Bachelor’s degree in environmental science and/or recreation administration or related field; and
    B)  Three (3) years of experience in a responsible supervisory or administrative capacity.
