Posted: 01/12/2026CITY OF GLENS FALLS—VACANCY
DIRECTOR OF PLANNING AND ZONING (PROVISIONAL)
Re-issued 1/12/2026
This is an exciting time to join the City of Glens Falls. The City is seeing real momentum downtown, with revitalization projects underway and new investment shaping how the community looks and functions. At the same time, Glens Falls is finalizing its first comprehensive plan in more than 20 years, providing a long-overdue framework to guide future growth, development, and quality of life. The Planning Department is also being reshaped to better support implementation and collaboration across City departments and with the community.
This position offers the opportunity to work on projects that matter and to see plans turn into real outcomes on the ground. The work is hands-on, impactful, and closely connected to the City’s future. Glens Falls is also a great place to live, with strong local schools, a cost of living that remains affordable compared to many New York communities, and easy access to outdoor recreation—just minutes from Lake George, nearby ski areas, and the foothills of the Adirondacks. For a planner looking for meaningful work, professional growth, and a community with forward momentum, this is a rewarding opportunity.
