    Director of Supportive Residential Services Job Description

    Established in 1948, the Mission of ASCEND Mental Wellness is to encourage and assist individuals in discovering pathways to their optimal mental health and wellness, while supporting hope and awareness of well-being in our community.

    We are currently hiring a Director of Supportive Residential Services who will oversee our Supportive Residential Programs and our Outreach/LEAMHRS program. This role will oversee our Housing First, Cooper Street, Scattered-Site Supported Housing, Interim Rooms, and Outreach/LEAMHRS programs. The ideal candidate should have experience working with vulnerable populations, including residential services, along with supervisory experience.

    Director of Supportive Residential Services Qualifications & Education:

    • Must have at least 5 years' experience working with vulnerable populations. Work experience must also include residential services and management/supervisory experience. A Bachelor's or Associate's in human services preferred in conjunction with required experience.
    • Valid NYS driver's license acceptable to Agency insurance standards.
    • Must be of good character and background and display an affinity for working with people with vulnerable populations that include mental illness and/or co-occurring disorders.

    Director of Supportive Residential Services Job Responsibilities, include but are not limited to:

    • Responsible for the overall leadership, oversight and management of the Agency's supportive residential programs and services and their innate complexities.
    • Work collectively as part of the Agency's Leadership Team as well as with individuals at all levels within the Agency.
    • Assure ongoing compliance with all regulatory agencies.
    • Participate in the budget process and be accountable for financial aspects of the program.
    • Review and maintain standards of program development and service delivery consistent with Agency mission, philosophies and policies (i.e. client centered philosophy, staff professionalism, etc.), as well as that of the mental/behavioral health and co-occurring disorders field of work.
    • Ensure on-going oversight and assessment of programmatic needs, individual resident needs, proper utilization management, and both resident and staff satisfaction.
    • Directly supervise Supportive Residential Program Coordinators, and indirectly supervise residential direct care staff, interns, and volunteers.
    • Assist with oversight of LPN services within all supportive residential programs.
    • Oversee the coordination of admissions, inter-program movement, and discharge for residents. Participate in admission meetings, treatment planning and discharge conferences as indicated.
    • Ensure that all programs are adequately staffed and staff are provided with appropriate orientation and training.
    • Ensure the highest level of quality in all program/service environments.
    • Be available to meet with clients as needed.
    • Be an active participant of internal Agency committees, such as Incident Review and Corporate Compliance, and serve on other committees as requested.
    • Participate with other community agencies and services to ensure service coordination for residents.
    • Prepare annual reports and other reports as requested.
    • Special projects as assigned or developed.
    • Maintain a safe environment for all clients and staff.
    • Maintain effective communication with other staff members and supervisor.
    • Preserve human dignity and confidentiality of all clients and act in the best interest of those served through the Agency's programs and services.
    • Assure quality of work at all times.
    • Adhere to all laws and regulations applicable to the Agency's business.
    • Adhere to the Agency's Corporate Compliance Program and established policies and procedures.
    • Positively represent the Agency within the community at all times.
    • Have adequate computer skills, or more refined for specific job titles.
    • Actively participate in scheduled team/staff meetings as scheduled by supervisor or as indicated by the program's services.
    • Actively participate in Agency sponsored staff development and in-service educational programs as deemed necessary by supervisor, including mandatory trainings assigned per job title.
