    Student Success Advisor
     
    BROAD FUNCTION: An incumbent in this position assists the Director of College Access & Student Success by providing advising services to students from matriculation through completion.
     
    MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
    • Provides advising to an assigned caseload of students as well as incoming and returning students; provide walk-in coverage for Student Success Center.
    • Assists students and groups from matriculation to completion; provides career/transfer pathway exploration and planning including course selection, degree programs, academic success and career/transfer options based on student’s academic skills, interests and abilities. 
    • Provides advising to students to improve understanding of institutional policy, regulation and process; and is integrally involved in supporting students through the navigation of all facets of college enrollment including academic, personal, financial and future professional success.  Refers to appropriate campus resources.
    • Assists with college-wide retention efforts, including but not limited to call, email and letter campaigns.
    • Assists with administering of placement testing.
    • Uses advising technologies and develops programs to improve student’s use of advising and campus technologies. 
    • This Advisor works with colleagues, pertinent offices, current students, faculty and staff to foster a welcoming environment for all new and continuing students from underrepresented groups that promotes students’ personal and academic success. 
    • Develops workshops and programs that inform the campus community on the needs of student from backgrounds traditionally underrepresented in higher education.
    • Other duties as assigned.
     
    REQUIRED SKILLS: Student-centered with a commitment to educational access and success.  Willingness and desire to work respectfully with people of diverse backgrounds.  Background in academic advising and degree planning. Working knowledge of Banner, Starfish, DegreeWorks, Career Coach, and educational technologies are strongly preferred. 
     
    EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s Degree in a related area
     
    YEARS OF EXPERIENCE: 1-3 years’ experience in Student Development is preferred.
     
    WORKING CONDIDITONS & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Office environment. Occasionally lifting 5-10 lbs.
     
    SCHEDULE: Work schedule will include a 9 AM-5 PM, and 7 AM to 3 PM shift each week. Occasional evening and weekend work required. Full-Time (12-Month).
     
    SALARY RANGE: $23.92 - $26.91 per hour
    The selected candidate’s salary will be determined based on factors that include the available budget, internal equity, and the final candidate’s qualifications, experience, education and other job-related credentials. This hiring range is provided as SUNY Adirondack’s good faith estimate of the expected hiring range at the time of posting.
