    About Us

Caring for seniors is not a recent concern. The Glens Falls Home, Inc. was incorporated in 1898 to provide residential services for aging women. For over 100 years the organization operated a home for aged women on Warren Street in the City of Glens Falls.

After a century of providing extraordinary care and comfort in a home-like setting, The Glens Falls Home Board noted the changing needs of the elderly in the community. The decision was made to build a state-of-the-art independent not-for-profit retirement community with an assisted living component for those requiring more care. A partnership was formed with The Eddy, the residential division of Northeast Health, and the Glen at Hiland Meadows was founded in the Town of Queensbury.

The ladies on Warren Street were transferred to lovely new quarters at the Terrace in The Glen complex. In addition to the 42 apartment Terrace, The Glen boasts a campus of 12 cottages and 80 apartments. The Eddy serves as the management company and is overseen by a 10 member Board of Directors composed of 5 members from The Conkling Center Board and 5 members selected by The Eddy. Its success in the community is the crown jewel of the accomplishments of the organization.

In 2014, it was decided to change the name of the corporation since the original Glens Falls Home as a residence no longer existed. Mary Conkling was the woman who contributed her home for the first Glens Falls Home. Appropriately it was decided to rename the corporation The Conkling Center in her honor.
