JOB SUMMARY:

We are seeking skilled and detail-oriented Soft Goods Props Technicians to join our team. This is a perfect position for makers of all kinds. The ideal candidate has a broad skill set, a creative mind, is self-motivated, works well with a team, and can switch between projects with ease.

ADKS is seeking candidates with experience in prop making, sewing, and basic carpentry. Multiple positions immediately available.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Skill with industrial sewing tools and ability to sew accurately, quickly, and with an artistic flair
• Sewing-related problem-solving skills to measure, cut, create, sew, repair, and alter large-scale stage curtains, backdrops, cycloramas, travelers, and acoustic drapes
• Knowledge of industrial sewing machinery and cutting tools to stitch oversized fabrics like velour, muslin, and heavy blackout liners
• Using hand tools to repair, create, build, age, or refurbish props where necessary to meet the requirements of the client
• Analyzing and interpreting concept drawings, images, and/or inspirational narratives
• Take directions from managers for the interpretation of conceptual/creative drawings for prop and sculptural creations
• Assemble parts to blueprint specifications/work instructions
• Perform basic math and cutting
• Document products and materials used/applied
• Perform routine equipment maintenance and cleanup
• Perform other duties as assigned.

EXPERIENCE:

• Experience with operating Juki brand machinery is a plus
• Eye/hand coordination and manual dexterity required
• Ability to work varied shifts, including occasional evenings and weekends.

This position is in person at our fabrication shop in Argyle, New York (1 hour north of Albany and approximately 30 minutes from Saratoga Springs and Glens Falls). Shift is anticipated to be Monday – Friday, 7:00 am – 3:30 pm, with the opportunity for overtime as available.

Range of Rates – $19 - $25 per hour + benefits
