Fostering Healthy Board Relationships presented by the Adirondack Nonprofit Business Council

The Adirondack Nonprofit Business Council (ANBC) invites you to their annual Symposium event, titled: Fostering Healthy Board Relationships. 

This panel discussion will address:

F. Raymond Agnew (Ray) is Vice President for Hospital & Community Engagement at Glens Falls Hospital, where he has served for 20 years – 1998 – 2011, and 2020 - 2026. Ray is a graduate of the Crane School of Music and is a member of ASCAP (the American Society of Composers Authors and Publishers). He is a member of Rotary International and was named Rotarian of the year by the Glens Falls Rotary Club in 2008, and Humanitarian of the Year by Rotary District 7190 in 2008. He is also the recipient of the SUNY Chancellor’s Recognition Award and has been named a Faculty “Heavy Hitter” for his presentations to both the Council for the Advancement and Support of Education and the Association for Healthcare Philanthropy.
 

Ray’s community involvement includes serving on the Board of Directors of High Peaks Hospice (President), the Adirondack Regional Chamber of Commerce (Secretary), Bay Road Church (Chair), The Glens Falls City Ethics Board, as past Chairman of the Board of Adirondack Medical Center and serving on the Boards of The Adirondack Health Institute (2016 -2019), the Rotary Club of Glens Falls and the Lake Placid Rotary Club where he is past President of both. Ray has also been a member of several regional arts councils and performing arts boards.

Sarah Burns, Executive Director of the Dake Foundation for Children 
With over 16 years of experience in the field, her career has spanned from the corporate finance sector in San Francisco to the nonprofit world of Upstate New York. She is an experienced leader with a passion for building and maintaining community partnerships. She attended SUNY Empire State University and earned her degree in Business Administration with a focus on Nonprofit Management. A lifelong volunteer and active member of the community, Sarah wholeheartedly believes that a community is stronger when its members lift each other up.

Shannon Klingebiel, Member, Comfort Food Community Board of Directors
Shannon lives in the Schuylerville area and has strong family ties to Washington County. As a Registered Dietitian and Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist, she is passionate about ensuring people have access to nourishing food and a strong understanding of how their food choices impact their health.
 
For the past three years, Shannon has served on the Board of Directors for Comfort Food Community, contributing in a variety of leadership roles, including Nominating Committee Chair and Secretary. Her commitment to community well‑being and food access continues to guide her work both professionally and in her volunteer service.
 
 
Laura Marx, Executive Director, Comfort Food Community
Laura is a dynamic, versatile, and compassionate nonprofit leader with extensive experience in growing and strengthening organizations while remaining deeply aligned with mission, passion, and purpose. With more than 26 years of diversified experience, she brings a unique and thoughtful perspective to nonprofit management and leadership.

She holds both a bachelor’s and a master’s degree in psychology from Fairleigh Dickinson University and is passionate about expanding equitable opportunities and access for under-resourced communities.
Laura resides in East Greenbush, NY with her husband and their fur baby and enjoys spending time with her three adult children.
