Meet our Speakers:
Candice Frye - Partner, Village Affairs Real Estate, former LARAC Director
Candice has been a part of the LARAC staff since 2010; starting as a part time Community Outreach Coordinator and then as the Director starting in 2016. Candice has also worked for the Glens Falls Farmers Market as the Market Liaison and is currently the President of the Friends of the GF Farmers Market. She serves on the board of the Glens Falls Collaborative, is a member of the Kiwanis Club of Glens Falls, and an Ambassador of the Adirondack Chamber of Commerce. In 2022, Candice will leave LARAC at the end of December 2021 to pursue her next adventure in short term rental management. She also works part time for Advokate and Events to a T. She loves being a part of the Glens Falls community and enjoys all of our outdoor activities and the fun events!
Jeffrey Flagg - Economic Development Director, City of Glens Falls
Prior to his appointment as the Director of Economic Development for Glens Falls in February 2021, Jeff Flagg was the city’s Sustainability Coordinator, where he led the city's effort on several climate-based initiatives, including a Community Microgrid Feasibility Study, conversion of the city’s streetlights to LEDs and NYSERDA Clean Energy Communities certification. From 1999-2016, he was Program Director for the Sagamore Institute, a center for ecological education whose mission centers around various land-use issues, including energy use, smart growth, and eco-systemic balance.
Bill Collins - Mayor-Elect, City of Glens Falls
Born in Glens Falls Hospital, Collins grew up on Ridge Street with his parents, Jack and Mae, and brothers (Jack and Dan) and sister (Debby). He graduated from Glens Falls schools, from SUNY Adirondack and SUNY Plattsburgh with a degree in psychology and has served as the Second Ward Councilman for the past eight. Before his election to the Common Council, he also served for three years as a member of the city’s Board of Public Safety which adopts policies, provides oversight for Police and Fire Department and reviews public safety issues throughout the city. Mr. Collins is currently the Mayor-Elect of the City of Glens Falls. For 18 years he worked as the New York director for Special Olympics. He left that position on November 5, 2021 to prepare for his mayoral job. Collins also runs Celtic Attitudes, a clothing business making Celtic-themed clothing alongside local musician Kevin McKrell. They currently have a storefront at Colonie Center for the holidays.
