The Kitchen Manager oversees all back-of-house operations for our café, ensuring the kitchen runs smoothly while maintaining high standards of food quality and safety compliance. This role combines culinary expertise with leadership skills to manage inventory, supervise staff, and support catering operations. The Kitchen Manager works closely with the management team to deliver an exceptional guest experience through efficient kitchen operations and quality food preparation.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee daily kitchen operations including food preparation, cooking processes, and quality control
- Create and execute weekly prep lists, delegating tasks to team members as needed
- Order ingredients, materials, and supplies based on demand and inventory levels
- Conduct monthly inventory assessments and maintain appropriate stock levels
- Train staff on proper food preparation, plating techniques, and safety protocols
- Handle catering needs including order placement, guest communication, and event setup
- Implement preventative maintenance for kitchen equipment (ice machine, coolers, dishwasher)
- Distribute tip share among team members according to company policy
- Hold staff accountable for adhering to food safety standards and service excellence
- Support shift management responsibilities as needed
- Supervise kitchen staff and organize food orders efficiently
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS
Education & Experience
- High school diploma or GED required
- Minimum 1 year supervisory or leadership experience
- Experience in high-volume café or espresso bar environment preferred
- Knowledge of culinary basics and espresso drinks preparation
