    Title: Executive Director
     
    Reports to: Board of Directors
     
    Summary: The Executive Director acts as the Chief Executive Officer of the organization and is responsible for the overall management and direction of the organization in accordance with its vision and mission. The Executive Director works under the general oversight of a volunteer Board of Directors.
     
    Overview: The Executive Director provides oversight and overall management, planning, vision and leadership for all aspects of the Greater Greenwich Chamber of Commerce including programs, finance, member services, events, communications, and board development.  The Executive Director assumes a leadership role throughout the greater Greenwich area in partnering with businesses, foundations, government officials, other nonprofits, and supporters.  The Executive Director works with the Board of Directors and committees to establish vision, policies, strategy, priorities, and general scope of programs the Chamber will deliver.
     
    Responsibilities:

    1. Support and work with the Board of Directors
      1. The Executive Director will take direction from the Board of Directors and work with the Board to assure that the Chamber operates with a clear mission and a long-range strategic plan that is consistent with the mission.
      2. Provides leadership in developing the Chamber as an effective, high-quality voice for local business.  The Executive Director will keep the Board informed about issues and events which impact the Chamber as business membership association.
      3. Keep the Board of Directors fully informed on conditions, opportunities, issues, and challenges for the Chamber and the environment in which it operates so that the Board can carry out its governance, financial oversight, and leadership role.
      4. Develop with the Board, on a yearly basis, a work plan for the board to carry forward the strategic plans of the Chamber.
      5. Provide for the coordination of Board meetings and communications.
      6. Serve as staff member to all committees unless otherwise directed.
    2. Office and Organizational Management
      1. Provide ongoing management to assure the organization stays within approved plans and budgets.
      2. Maintain the Chamber office and keep consistent office hours.
      3. Oversee all digital operations, including website, social media, and email marketing.  This includes updating the website, posting to social media, and writing and sending email communications to members.
      4. Develop contracts with outside vendors, professional organizations, and capacity builders.
      5. Represent the organization in negations with contractors and service providers.
    3. Manage Finance and Fundraising
      1. Develop annual fundraising plan and work with Board on annual budget.
      2. Process all payments and make deposits.
      3. Develop relationships with members of the Chamber and maintain regular communications.
      4. Identify grant opportunities and develop proposals and produce required reporting to funding sources.
      5. Monitor expenditures and income, plan for core budget self-sufficiency and maintain capital assets.
    4. Develop and Coordinate Advocacy Efforts
      1. Develop advocacy strategy and submit to board for review.
      2. Build relationships with local, state, and federal government officials.
      3. Develop relationships with state and national organizations involved in nonprofit, economic, and community issues.
    5. Management of Program and Member Services
      1. Oversee the development of relevant programs and services as needed.
      2. Ensure program quality and consistency with organizational goals through ongoing evaluation of all programs and services to determine effectiveness and participant and member satisfaction.
      3. Work with Board to develop policies for all program processes (contracts, registration policies, cancellation policy, etc.).
      4. Oversee development and coordination of events and new programs, workshops, publications, website, and service provider relationships.
      5. Develop and maintain corporate and business relationships.
     
    Qualifications:
    • Experience or ability to engage with membership and board of directors.
    • Background in business, nonprofits, or other organizational structures.  Volunteer experience is considered.
    • Engaging and able to build and grow strong networks and coalitions.
    • Comfortable with being the public face of the Chamber.
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
    • Competent organizational and time-management skills to set and meet deadlines.
    • Work with minimum supervision and handle multiple priorities simultaneously.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suites (particularly Word and Excel); other types of software, including financial (i.e. QuickBooks), CRM, and graphic design, are a plus.
     
    Schedule: 20 to 25 hours per week, additional if necessary, including evenings and weekends.  Flexible work environment.
     
    Compensation: $28,000 to $32,000, commensurate with experience.
