About this position:
Responsible for commercial loan workout and asset management to reduce problem loans and improve repayment rate. Works closely with Corporate Banking and management to identify potential problems and propose collection strategies that address Company goals and maintain a quality lending relationship with our borrowers. This position works out of our headquarters in Glens Falls, New York.
Essential Job Functions:
> Contact commercial problem loan customers, including bankruptcy, loss accounts, and government program accounts according to accepted practices and department guidelines. Utilize skills and knowledge to develop and present loan workout plans designed to recuperate loan payment and reduce losses.
> Utilize resources and work with Corporate Banking team to identify potential problem loan customers prior to change in credit worthiness or repayment ability. Consult with lenders and management on complex or unusual loan relationships throughout the lending process.
> Facilitate follow-through on Action Plans and Strategies to resolve Troubled Assets while administering Watched Assets Reporting processes and Risk Rating systems. Report accordingly to Sr. Management.
> Work with lenders, lawyers, and customers to develop strategic plan to restore bad loans and manage assets to ensure loan repayment.
> Engage bank lawyers for legal action and foreclosure referrals, maintain and direct expedited processing of those actions, while employing cost control measures to limit expense and exposure.
> Coordinate disposition of Company-owned assets in accordance with established Company policies and governmental regulations.
> Provide periodic reports to management, participate in Company meetings as appropriate, and communicate regularly with management to stay apprised of changes and provide input as needed.
> Remain current on regulatory guidance and changes impacting collections and commercial lending as well as local and state economic/business trends.

Education/Certifications:
> Bachelor’s Degree in business or finance or equivalent experience required
> 4 years of experience in banking, finance, lending/commercial lending or collections preferred
Skills/Knowledge:
> Ability to learn commercial lending and commercial credit
> Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal; comfortable interacting with lenders, management, customers, and legal professionals
> Ability to negotiate and moderate disputes and deal with conflicts constructively
> Self-motivated, independent thinker and creative/innovative problem solver
> Ability to work independently and as part of a cooperative work team
> Strong analytical skills including: ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions
Physical Demands
> Must be able to sit for prolonged periods of time and walk/stand for brief periods of time.
> Must be able to repetitively use a telephone and computer mouse and keyboard.
> Ability to lift/move up to 15 lbs.

The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $25.00 an hour commensurate with experience and education.
Additional compensation may be earned through the Company’s annual bonus and incentive programs, subject to individual and company performance.
