    Ten Candidates Receive Scholarships to Pursue Healthcare Education

    Hudson Mohawk Area Health Education Center (Hudson Mohawk AHEC) has announced the winners of their 2019 Healthcare Career Scholarship awards. The scholarships were awarded to students pursuing a healthcare-related degree at local community college or certificate program.

    “Our mission is to build our local healthcare workforce, and one of the ways we can do this is by helping young people pursue higher education in health fields,” shared Katie Stair, Executive Director.

    The following are this year’s recipients to receive scholarships:
    • Alora Bearor, from Schroon Lake Central School, will be attending Hudson Valley Community College to pursue a degree inDental Hygiene;
    • Charlie Brown, from Johnstown High School, will be attending Fulton Montgomery Community College to pursue a degreeas a Radiology Technician;
    • Roxana de la Caridad Martinez Yandricevichtz, from Schalmont High School, will be attending Hudson Valley CommunityCollege to pursue a degree as a Registered Nurse
    • Makenna Grady, from Fonda-Fultonville High School, will be attending Fulton Montgomery Community College to pursue adegree as a Radiology Technician;
    • Taylor Markam, from Hudson Falls High School, will be attending SUNY Adirondack Community College to pursue a degreeas a Registered Nurse;
    • Allison McFarlane, from Corinth High School, will be attending SUNY Adirondack Community College to pursue a degreeas a Registered Nurse;
    • Caitlin Orsino, from Ravena Coeymans Selkirk High School, will be attending Memorial College of Nursing to pursue adegree as a Registered Nurse;
    • Kyle Shambo, from Keene Central High School, will be attending SUNY Cobleskill to pursue a degree as a Paramedic
    • McKenzie Sprague, from Moriah Central School, will be attending Maria College, to pursue a degree as a Registered Nurse;
