    Job Description
    The Opioid Response Program Coordinator will primarily support program implementation activities in connection with the Hudson Mohawk AHEC Rural Communities Opioid Response Program and Opioid Expansion Project.  The Coordinator will be responsible to lead the execution of program deliverables including but not limited to:
    • Coalition building activities to increase collaboration with local health departments, emergency response personnel, local police, and other community members;
    • Support, coordinate, and/or host naloxone trainings;
    • Organize community engagement events focusing on substance use treatment, prevention, and destigmatization;
    • Facilitate trainings for healthcare professionals, law enforcement and first responders on substance use, Medication Assisted Treatment, coding and billing, etc;
    • Facilitate community engagement activities to promote prevention, treatment and recovery awareness; and
    • Provide outreach to local colleges in the promotion of prevention, treatment and recovery awareness.
    The Coordinator will assist and support the development of partnerships between and among key stakeholders to insure engagement in workforce development activities.  The Coordinator will serve as the primary point of contact with program partners and New York State AHEC System staff, and will be responsible for the tracking and reporting of program deliverables. Further, the Coordinator will assist Executive Director in other tasks and activities as requested.

    Position Qualifications

    Education & Experience:   Bachelor’s degree in a health related field preferred.  Experience working with addicted populations preferred. Experience working within health and/or human services agencies or provider networks required.
    Knowledge and skills:  This position entails the identification, implementation and execution of outreach and educational programs to leverage Hudson Mohawk AHEC’s mission and the goals of the Rural Communities Opioid Response Program and Opioid Expansion Project.  The ideal candidate will be able to work independently, be a self-starter, possess strong oral and written communication skills, be comfortable interacting with and presenting to diverse audiences, and be able to engage and establish strong relationships. The ideal candidate should be familiar with managing program budgets, have strong organizational skills, problem solving and critical thinking skills, be able to meet deadlines and demonstrate the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.  Proficiency in computer applications including Microsoft Office, Outlook, and survey design tools required.
    Other Requirements:   This position will require frequent travel throughout the Hudson Mohawk AHEC 10 county region.  The ideal candidate must have a valid New York State driver’s license and vehicle.
