Health Advocate

SAIL is seeking interested, qualified individuals who are interested in applying for the full-time Independent Consumer Advocacy Network, Health Advocate position.

The Health Advocate is responsible to assist Community Service Society and SAIL with the implementation and delivery of the Independent Consumer Advocacy Network (ICAN). ICAN is the New York State Ombudsprogram for people with Medicaid who need long term care or behavioral health services. This position assists New Yorkers with enrolling in and using managed care plans that cover long term care or behavioral health services. The ICAN Program provides community education about Medicaid and Medicare long term supports and services, that include but are not limited to; complaints, appeals and fair hearings, access to funding and legal services etc. This position requires at least a high school diploma, with AA preferred and five (5) years of related experience or other comparable education and experience.

The right candidate will be proficient in, and embody the following qualities; verbal and written aptitude; computer programs proficiency; organizational and problem solving skills; vibrant, positive personality.

Due to the nature of this position, work hours may vary based on the needs of the agency and outreach events. Occasional weekend and evening availability may be required.

Status: Full-time, non-exempt position @ 37.5 hours per week Salary: $40,000 annual rate
