VETERANS BENEFITS COUNSELOR
FULL-TIME w/ BENEFITS
Warren County Veterans’ Services is seeking to fill the full-time position of Veterans Benefits Counselor. The Veterans Benefits Counselor assists veterans and their dependents with case development, benefits counseling and claims management. The Counselor acquaints clients with their rights and assists them with claims and appeals filings for Veterans benefits on the federal, state and local level.
SALARY: $ 48,826 (2025 base salary)
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Either:
1) Associate’s degree in social services, human services or closely related field; or
2) Graduation from high school or possession of a GED and two (2) years of experience in benefits counseling, social services, human services or a related field.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Candidate must attain accreditation with the US Department of Veterans Affairs within eighteen (18) months of appointment, and must retain certification throughout the term of employment.
The position will be filled based upon Civil Service requirements. A provisional appointment will be made with examination to be held at a later date. Candidate must meet civil service requirements for appointment following establishment of eligible list.
