    NOTICE OF VACANCY
     
    PURCHASING AGENT (PROVISIONAL)
     
    City of Glens Falls is seeking to hire a full-time Purchasing Agent. The incumbent is responsible for purchasing a wide variety of goods and services for the City of Glens Falls. Responsibilities include oversight of the various steps involved in the process of competitive bidding and in establishing contractual agreements that lead to the purchasing of equipment, material, supplies and services.     SALARY:  $55,000-$65,000 (40-hour work week) with benefit package that includes health insurance (including dental and vision), enrollment in the NYS Retirement system and paid time off.
     
    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma and 
    1. Bachelor’s Degree and one (1) year of experience in the large-scale purchase of a variety of goods and services in a government or business setting; or 
    2. Associate’s Degree and three (3) years of experience in the large-scale purchase of a variety of goods and services in a government and business setting; or 
    3. Five (5) years of experience in the large-scale purchase of a variety of goods and services in a government or business setting. 
    The position will remain open until it is filled, based on Civil Service requirements. A provisional appointment will be made with an examination to be held at a later date. Selected candidates must meet civil service requirements for appointment following the establishment of the eligibility list.
