NOTICE OF VACANCY
PRINCIPAL PLANNER
The Director of Planning and Community Development is seeking candidates to fill the position of Principal Planner. The position is a newly created position within the Department’s Planning Office. The successful candidate will join an office of eight and will work under the direction of the County Planner to assist local governments in land use planning, local law development and revision, general technical support to the County Board of Supervisors and other County Departments. The Principal Planner will also assist the Director of Planning and Community Development with administration of housing initiatives and economic development activities.
Warren County is home to beautiful Lake George and offers an exceptional environment for work and play. Located in the southeastern corner of the Adirondack Park, the County is home to approximately 66,000 residents with a significant seasonal population. The economic base of the County is a mix of medical device manufacturing, wood products industries and four-season tourism.
SALARY: $ 69,431to $77,446 commensurate with experience
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Either:
- Master's degree in planning, architecture, geography, landscape architecture or closely related field and three (3) years of full-time work experience (or its part-time equivalence) in municipal, community or regional planning; OR
- Bachelor's degree in planning, architecture, geography, landscape architecture or closely related field and four (4) years of full-time work experience (or its part-time equivalence) in municipal, community or regional planning.
The position will be filled based upon Civil Service requirements. A provisional appointment will be made with examination to be held at a later date. Candidate must meet Civil Service requirements for appointment following establishment of the Eligible List.
