GIS & Utilities Location Technician (Provisional)
Civil Service: Competitive Position
City of Glens Falls is seeking a full-time, provisional, GIS & Utilities Technician. The work of the incumbent involves performance of technician duties relating to the maintenance and operation of water/wastewater/drainage, utility lines, underground structures, hydrants, valves, as well as, above grade street fixtures, such as, curbs, pedestrian ramps, sidewalks, traffic signals, signage, street trees, streetlights, etc. Responsibilities include the use of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and CAD software to design and create maps. Supervision is not usually a duty of this class. Does related work as required.
Residency: Candidate must have been a legal resident of Warren County or contiguous County for at least four months immediately preceding the date of the exam.
Salary: $48,729/yr. 40-hour work week, includes paid lunch
Minimum Qualifications:
- Associate degree or higher, which included or was supplemented by twelve (12) credit hours of coursework in engineering science, mechanical design technology, mechanical engineering technology, geography, urban planning, computer programming, computer science or closely related field AND two (2) years of experience administering a GIS and CAD-based platforms; OR
- Graduation from a high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma and four (4) years of experience administering GIS or CAD-based platforms or four (4) years of experience designing, creating, and updating maps based upon digital and non-digital data.
This will be a provisional appointment subject to Civil Service Law and Rules.
