Computer Help Desk Technician
$37,128 annually plus benefits
35 hours per week
Crandall Public Library is seeking a Computer Help Desk Technician who will provide technical support to staff and public end-users by identifying and addressing hardware and software related issues. The candidate will utilize help desk software to prioritize and promptly resolve support tickets. Responsibilities also include assisting in the installation and configuration of computer systems and related equipment; Testing, cleaning, and repairing basic network infrastructure such as cables and network drops; Setting up equipment for programs and events; Maintaining the cleanliness and organization of all equipment. Tasks are performed under the direct supervision of the Computer Systems Analyst, with a readiness to undertake related duties as needed.
Graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma and:
A) Associate's Degree or higher in Computer Science, Computer Technology, Information Technology or a closely related field; OR
B) Two (2) years of full-time paid experience, or its part-time paid equivalent, as a computer support specialist, network support specialist, microcomputer technician or equivalent position providing technical desktop computer and/or network support, or
C) An equivalent combination of education and experience as defined by (A) and (B) above.
NOTE: Education beyond the secondary level must be obtained from an institution that is a regionally accredited or New York State registered college or university.
Position will be filled based on Civil Service requirements. A provisional appointment will be made with examination to be held at a later date. Candidate must meet civil service requirements for appointment following establishment of eligible list.
