FREE! Tax Preparation Available

The Tri-County United Way announced the availability of free tax preparation for families and individuals whose household income is below $49,000.

“Many taxpayers may overlook valuable tax credits,” said Tri-County United Way Executive Director Barbara Sweet.  “The Earned Income Tax Credit, or EITC, can make life easier for workers struggling to make ends meet in today’s tight economy — up to $5,751.” (more…)

Marathon Donation Day

Shop and Share the Love! Downtown Charm will be having an open house to benefit the South Glens Falls Marathon Dance on Saturday, February 4th from 10am-6pm.
Sisters and Downtown Charm owners Alissa Bevivino, Kerry Ducey, and Christine Izzo invite you to come enjoy light refreshments and shop a store stocked with Valentine’s gifts. 25% of the day’s proceeds will be donated to the Marathon Dance. This Friday, Adirondack Theatre Festival is holding its annual winter benefit. Yes, it is a fundraiser, but attendees are promised a great party with Broadway entertainment by Avenue Q’s Howie Michael Smith and Gary Adler (both very funny and very talented), food and beverages from area restaurants and a very unique charity auction (more on that below).

Since 1995 ATF has made significant contributions to our shared community and the American theatre scene through its summer season of professional theatre. The shows produced each June and July attract thousands of people to downtown Glens Falls from both far and wide. These arts patrons not only see the shows, but frequent the restaurants, shops and hotels in our community contributing to the local economy. More than that, many of these premiere productions go on to be produced in cities across the country. ATF and our audiences are generating work and supporting emerging artists in a way usually reserved to much larger metropolitan areas. (more…)

The Adirondack Regional Chamber of Commerce (ARCC) announced its 2012 Board of Directors, effective January 1, 2012. The Board of Directors serve as uncompensated volunteers who are elected by members of the organization whose primary responsibility is to advance the mission of the Chamber, set direction and policy and provide fiduciary leadership to insure the ARCC remains a vital and sound organization for its members and stakeholders. South Glens Falls Education Foundation Awards 2011 Educational Grants

The South Glens Falls Education Foundation awarded the first annual Educational Grants.  The grant applications were received and reviewed by the SGF Education Foundation Grant Review Committee.  The recipients were recognized at a social gathering held December 1, 2011 at Maude’s Restaurant in South Glens Falls.  The grant recipients are, The Association for the Hearing Impaired, The Historical Society for Moreau and South Glens Falls and Colleen Hagadorn and Susan Moore-Palumbo, teachers at the South Glens Falls Senior High School.
