Crandall Public Library, located in City Park in downtown Glens Falls, is open all year and is the central reference library of the Southern Adirondack Library System. Throughout the year, the library administers art exhibits and a variety of special programs and events both on- and off-site. A multi-million dollar expansion project was recently completed and improvements to neighboring City Park are underway.
Many other communities can boast fine libraries, such as Lake George, Whitehall, Warrensburg, Fort Edward, Bolton Landing, Hudson Falls, and the renowned Black Watch Memorial Library in Ticonderoga.
Private research facilities are located The Chapman Historical Museum in Glens Falls, The Adirondack Museum in Blue Mountain Lake, and the Washington County Historical Society in Fort Edward. The Rogers Island Visitors Center in Fort Edward houses hundreds of artifacts from the earliest Native American settlements through the 18th century. Many local historical societies and associations maintain small museums and research facilities. Please contact the county or town clerks' offices for specific information.
