Leadership Adirondack
It begins with an overnight Leadership Retreat,
lakeside, at the historic Fort William Henry Resort.
It concludes with a graduation where participants
are celebrated for the difference they’ve made and will make for
years to come in our community. In between, participants will
get an insiders look into our community;
it’s economy, history, educational system, and
human service needs.
History
Since graduating from their Leadership Adirondack Class, several
LAdk members have been elected to public offices, school
boards and serve as volunteer leaders of state and regional
non-profits. Many graduates have been appointed to the most senior
positions in their corporations and/or organizations and to
numerous commissions and boards of directors. Their voices are
among the most influential in our region. LAdk is now in
its 18th
year, graduating well over 250 community minded leaders since
1991. Approximately 90% of the graduates have remained in the
region, while others are enjoying leadership positions in
communities all over the country.
Selection Criteria
There is no more effective or prestigious
organization in this region than Leadership Adirondack.
Participation is open to persons in leadership positions who
have initiated change and achieved results in their career and
community roles. Dedication to the community in the form of
significant volunteer service is essential. Individuals must be
willing to devote the time necessary to be a full participant in
the LAdk Class Experience. A maximum of 20 individuals will be
selected to participate in the year 2009 Class.
Tuition
Upon acceptance into the Class of 2008-09, to reserve his/her
position in the class, each participant must be a member or
employee of a member of the Adirondack Regional Chamber of
Commerce. The Class of 2009 tuition is $950 per person.
Additional program costs and scholarship assistance are
underwritten through sponsorships and donations from Leadership
Adirondack members and friends of the organization. Tuition is
usually paid by the participant’s financial sponsor (an employer
or sponsoring organization) or by the participant
himself/herself. Candidates are expected to secure their own
financial sponsors. Full payment must be received with
application by August 15th, 2008.

demonstrated need. To be considered for assistance, candidates
