ARCC seeks new President/CEO

On May 14, 2010, Todd Shimkus, the President/CEO of the Adirondack Regional Chamber of Commerce, announced that he will be leaving his current position to become the new President/CEO of the Saratoga County Chamber of Commerce. Andy Cruikshank, the CEO of Fort Hudson Health System, Inc., and the Chair of the ARCC’s Board of Directors, said the organization will launch a formal search to identify a replacement for Shimkus.

“On behalf of the Board of Directors and our 1,000 plus members, I want to wish Todd well in this new challenge and to thank him for his leadership in our community,” said Cruikshank. “Since 2003, the ARCC has established itself as one of the region’s leading organizations and a highly capable advocate for our members. We’ve increased membership by 22% and expanded the Chamber’s programming to respond to the needs of our members most notably through the creation of the Network for Enterprising Women, the Adirondack Young Professionals Organization, and the Washington County Business Show.”

Mr. Cruikshank said Mr. Shimkus has been particularly successful in building a great team of professionals both on the staff and in volunteer positions with the Chamber. He expects to be calling upon many of these leaders as a search committee is formed and a process is finalized to select a new CEO. He offered no schedule as to how quickly a new CEO will be secured noting that the Chamber’s professional staff will continue to manage the Chamber’s programs until a new leader can be found.
